I have a virus on my computer. I can’t open any programs or applications, it takes forever to start up and get anything done. I tried downloading virus protection from cnet and download.com but the computer won’t let me open them. What should I do?
January 30th, 2010 at 11:50 pm
Hi dsomdah,
You followed the correct procedure in downloading AVG or Antivir from CNET download.com
Try this again, but this time reboot your PC, press F8 during startup and select “Safe Mode with networking”.
After you have downloaded your free antivirus software, install and run it from Safe Mode.
If you get stuck, please refer to my previous post http://free-pchelp.com/blog/how-to-remove-virus
Any more problems, please let me know.

Hi Annette,
Thanks for the email.
The way to fix this is to do the following :
Click Start->Setting->Control Panel.
Double click on the Display icon and then click on the Setting Tab.
Then you can change the Colors and Screen Area settings
Running Win 98, some of the common settings are 800×600 and 16 or 32 Bit Color.
After you have made the change, click Apply then OK.
You screen may flicker or go black whilst this occurs, but don’t worry this is completely normal.
A message will then appear asking you if you want to keep these changes.
If you are happy with the screen size and color, click yes otherwise click no and try another color setting until you are happy.
Any more problems, please let me know.

Hi Adrian,
I recommend you delete the network connection to mycricket icon in Control Panel->Network Connections and run the mycricket installation CD again.

Hi Uzer501,
Boot up using the Vista CD and reinstall Vista again.
Once the Vista install is complete, insert the Windows 7 CD and install it from the Windows Vista Desktop.
Any more problems, please ask.

Steve

Hi Tingaling,
The easiest way to remove the Koobface virus for free is to simply download and run the free Koobface virus removal tool.
Visit Download.com and do a search for “McAfee Avert Stinger”.
Download and run this to delete the Koobface virus.
Then download and run AVG free edition and run a complete computer scan

I have a laptop with microsoft millenium edition. I have dialup internet and whenever I try to get on the internet it has to call somewere. what is this all about. It wont let me load up saying it could not connect with the computer. I do have an ethernet cord and it is pluged in. Plus when ever I try to play cd games the screen just goes black. the internet thing ask me for a phone number and I put in my home phone. I need help SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 27th, 2010 at 12:53 pm
Hi Larry,
Please setup a new dial up connection by either reinstalling your CD-ROM that came with your internet starter kit or setting one up yourself :
Start->Settings->Dial Up Networking->Make new Connection.
Please contact your ISP to confirm the dial up settings and confirm your account has not been locked out. (The server sometimes does this automatically if there is too many failed dial up attempts).
Also run a spyware scan.
Any more probs, please let me know.

Stephen Tracey.

Hi Tasu,
Make a Linux Boot CD, bootup using the Liniux CD and format the Pen drive.
This does NOT impact your current windows OS.
